A Deux Basic Obedience Express™ @ C.H.A.C.O.'s Hub in Tesuque
Feb 6 @ 3:00 pm – Feb 27 @ 3:00 pm

Screen Shot 2017-01-14 at 6.35.35 PM Class Description:
Adolescence is a transitional period that varies from pup to pup. During this stage your puppy will begin to “test” new boundaries (and you) and become more interested in other dog friends and what the environment has to offer. This class is shorter than your average six -week course since there are only 2 participants per class! Allowing us to move faster and deeper into all what you and your pup need to master.

Basic Obedience A Deux Express™ is here to help you maintain your adolescent social-graces and give you the know-how so that you can continue to reinforce the behaviors that you want in your dog. You will learn how to reward your dog for behaviors around the home and on “the go.” Special attention will be given to typical adolescent behavior such as: “selective-hearing” when it comes to leaving undesirable items, avoiding you at all cost, exuberance (jumping, mouthing, pulling on leash, and rough play with other dogs) lack of impulse control: dashing through doors, unable to sit/stay or down/stay when requested.

The Details: This is a small class  – small as it gets! Open to 2 dogs & handlers between ages: 4 1⁄2 months – to under 24 months. Also open to older dogs that have not attended a basic obedience class. We will be working inside a temperature-controled room and outside weather permitting, so please dress in layers.

Dates & Time: Four, 1 hr. on site classes. Dogs attend all classes. Orientation materials will be e-mailed for review at home 1 week prior to class. Tuesdays, February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th 2018  from 3-4pm

Pre-requisites: Dogs must be dog and people friendly (no lunging, growling at dogs or people).
Required Vaccinations: Rabies, DHLPP (distemper & parvo) or titer test. Proof of vaccination required at first class.

Fee: $321 (Santa Fe county tax included).

Trainer: Almudena Ortiz Cué M.A. CTC, CPDT, Tellington TTouch™ Cert.

NOTE: Class fee remains the same for same household dogs. Each dog requires an adult handler.

Back To Basics: Teaching Two Important Dog Behaviors That Will MakeYour Life Easier @ C.H.A.C.O. Dog Training & Behavior Consulting LLC
Mar 3 @ 10:00 am – Mar 24 @ 11:00 am

Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 4.48.14 PMBack to Basic: Teaching Two Important Dog Behaviors That Will MakeYour Life Easier

Isn’t  it great when we ask our dogs to  either sit stay  or down stay and they actually can do so?  I can think of so many instances where this would come in very handy.  And how about you being able to walk your dog without your dog pulling?

In this 4 session class we will focus on just these two behaviors:  sit or lie/down & stay and loose leash walking with some distractions.

Your dog will learn that staying put on a lie down pays off. As well as learning that the fastest way to get to where it wants to go is by walking nicely on a loose leash.

You will learn the myriads of reasons why it is hard for our dogs to perform these behaviors. Together we will explore how you can help your dog ace at staying in place for more than just a few seconds as well as walking on a loose leash.  NOTE: You will have to practice  at home between sessions.

Requirements: Open to 4 handlers and their dogs ages 5 months onward

Dogs are comfortable working around people and other dogs on leash. No lunging, growling or excessive barking.

Your dog has learned to sit or to lie down on a verbal cue.

Required Vaccinations: Rabies, DHLPP (distemper & parvo) or titer test. Proof of vaccination required at first class.

You will need to bring to every class:

  • A bed, towel etc.
  • Either a FLAT collar (no choke-chain, prong collar) and a harness or a FLAT collar and a head-halter combination.
  • 6 ft. leash (non-retractable)
  • A few more items we will discuss during orientation.

The Details:

Saturday March 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th 2018  First session is orientation without dogs.

From 10-11am

Fee: $160.05 (Santa Fe county tax included).

Introduction to Parkour @ C.H.A.C.O. Dog Training & Behavior Consulting LLC
May 5 @ 9:00 am – May 26 @ 10:00 am

Introduction to Parkour:

IMG_1037As described by the International Dog Parkour Association (www.dogparkour.org)  Dog Parkour is thought of as urban agility. It is a fun activity that teaches dog to safely and confidently engage with obstacles in the environment. Dogs are taught how to climb, balance, jump among other activities.  I would add that Dog Parkour can double as a fantastic and quick way to engage your dog mentally and physically. This class is ideal for dogs that need a “job,”  energetic dogs  (that are driving their people craa-zy!) as well as dogs that need to learn to enjoy novel things.

In this introductory course we will work on having dogs climb, balance, step backwards and go around.

Requirements:

Open to 4 handlers and their dogs ages 5 months onward

Dogs are comfortable working around people and other dogs on leash. No lunging, growling or excessive barking.

Required Vaccinations:

Rabies, DHLPP (distemper & parvo) or titer test. Proof of vaccination required at first class.

The Details:

Saturday May 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th. First session is orientation without dogs.

From: 9-10 am

Fee: $160.05 (Santa Fe county tax included).
