Private Training for Snake Avoidance – Using Reward Based Methods @ C.H.A.C.O.'s Hub in Tesuque
Jun 28 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

image 1If you train your dog often by following science based and well designed training  protocols your dog clearly stands a much higher chance of moving away from a snake if he ever encounters one. Via private training we will teach your dog how not to approach the snake and instead come back to you and if you are not present to move away from the snake.

My approach in teaching the above skills – like everything I teach – is based on the Behavioral Sciences (how animals learn among other things).

It is also based on reinforcing the dog for making the correct choice: Moving away from the snake, instead of shocking the dog when in the presence of one.

The Details:
8, 1 hr. private training  $856.00 (Santa Fe county tax included)
We will work with your dog at C.H.A.C.O’s hub in Tesuque  for a number of sessions as well as in your home if you live within my service area, otherwise all sessions will be held at C.H.A.C.O’s Hub in Tesuque.

If you are interested in this training please contact me directly: info@chacodogtraining.com or by phone at 505-954-1434.

NOTE:
You will have to buy some supplies in order to practice with your dog between session.

Since this is a private training, available dates and times will be discussed during the time of booking.

Welcome to Agility From the Ground Up, a series of classes beginning with the fundamentals. Or… think of it as a circle of enthusiasts who are committed to learning the many aspects of the sport while helping their dogs excel.

The pressure is off and the fun is on!

All classes and instruction given are based on the science of animal learning. Behaviors are build step-by-step using reinforcement as well as the use of a marker (clicker).

The goal here is to make sure handlers and their dogs are successful in understanding and executing the task at hand before moving forward with more advanced work.

(Mini) Course 1:
Covers learning theory (how dogs learn, including clicker training) reward procedures, good agility practices (safety, handling and focus work) and an introduction to working with simple “equipment”

Course 2:
Will include: Strategies to get your dog “fired” and focused on the training, teaching dogs how to go around, between, over and under different pieces of “equipment” and building confidence around noise.

Course 3:
We hone in teaching our dogs proprioception (how they use their body in space). Dogs will have an opportunity to learn awareness and control of their rear end by learning how to step with precision forward, backward and sideways – all required when engaged in the sport; as well as Starts and Stays.

Courses 4, 5 and 6:
Will cover jumps and tunnels; fine-tune our handling system and communication with the dog by using proper body language as well as contact obstacles.

Dates & Times for Mini-course 1 (AG1): Saturdays – Saturdays June 10th, 17th, 24th, July 1st, 8th and 15th.   Class meets from 8 am 9am.

CHACO’S HUB PUPPY PLAYTIME @ C.H.A.C.O.'s Hub in Tesuque
Jul 1 @ 10:00 am – 10:45 am

tibet-terrier-1597057_1280**ONGOING**  In order for Puppy Playtime to meet, enough puppies must be signed up by previous Wednesday.

NOTE: THERE IS NO PUPPY PLAYTIME ON JUNE 3rd!!

Puppy playtime is a vital activity by which your puppy will continue to practice bite inhibition. When puppies play with one another they give each other feedback as to the pressure of their “play” bites. If a puppy bites too hard, the playmate will most likely screech and stop the play as a warning to the play- biting pup that the pressure is too much and not tolerated. Thus the puppies learn to handicap the pressure of their (play) bite.

If your puppy ever bites as an adult dog but he/she learned proper bite inhibition, most likely there will be very little to no damage done because of excessive bite pressure. Bite Inhibition is learned only while dogs are young puppies (roughly to 4 1/2-5 months of age) thus the urgency of teaching them when very young. It is important to realize that ALL dogs will bite if there is no better option to get the message across when feeling threatened or scared.

We are happy to announce this new service! Puppy Playtime at CHACO’s hub in Tesuque. Ongoing, held twice monthly, on the first and last Saturday of each month from 10-10:45am. During this 45 min. supervised puppy play time we will continue to work on socialization, answer any questions you might have as well as practice some basic obedience- all while the puppies and we humans are having a blast!

Fee: $16.05/per visit /per puppy. Please register below and pay to reserve your spot. Once you have submitted your application (needed for your first visit) and payment I will send you additional information before Puppy Playtime starts.

Please note that in order to run the Puppy Playtime we will need at least two puppies with a maximum of six in attendance.

This service is open to puppies ages 9 weeks of age to 16 weeks. In accordance with the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (www.AVSBonline.org) Puppies should receive at least 1 set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first social and first de-worming. They should also be kept up-to-date on vaccines during attendance. Proof of vaccination is required.

NOTE: If your puppy is sick please do not attend Puppy Social. Supervised and well-behaved children (ages 5 up are invited and encourage to attend).

Trainer: Almudena Ortiz Cué M.A. CTC, CPDT, Tellington TTouch™ Cert.

Please click here to complete this form (for your first visit) and submit payment below. Note that all fields are required in the form. Kindly write “none” where questions are not applicable. NOTE: You must submit payment with your application in order to have a spot in the social.
